Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the arts of performing (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her on the American child prodigies list. The traits she displayed were normal for an Irish-born child with talented parents and a loving family. Maureen entered this caring haven on August 17, 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita L. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin-based firm as well as part owner of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons came second from a household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen enjoyed playing athletic games as a child and grew up to be a champion in sports. She combined this interest with an equally natural gift of performing. Her winning of almost all the Feis Awards for her home country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to the fact that she was a natural performer. At age fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
